Clear Brook High School opened on September 14, 2000. It originally was located at 2020 Hughes Road in Pasadena, but it moved to its current location at 500 Gulfway Drive (along I-45 South) in Pasadena after Hurricane Katrina. The school was the first high school in the Clear Creek Independent School District to be built in nearly 20 years. After its opening, it relieved Clear Lake High School (2000), Clear Falls High School (1992), and C.E. King High School (1972).
Clear Brook is well known for its academics. In 2013, Newsweek ranked Clear Brook #1 on its “America’s Top Public High Schools list.” In 2009, the school was rated “recognized” by the Texas Education Agency. The campus is divided into eight separate buildings: The HEB and SFA Commons (the dining hall and gymnasium) are located adjacent to each other.
Clear Brook is home to the Clear Brook High School Band, under the direction of Mr. Peter Houlihan. The band has marched in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, four times (2003, 2010, 2013, and 2017). In 2018 they will march in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The band has been a finalist at the TMSB Region 25 UIL Marching Band Contest from 2002-2007 and 2009-2013. In 2007, the band was named National Grand Champion of the United States Navy Battle of the Bands after finishing as National Runner Up in 2005. They have also traveled to Hawaii for a special appearance at the U.S. Nationals Showband Competition in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2014. The band has also performed in Chicago for the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade four times (2009, 2012, 2015, and 2016). In 2019 they will be traveling to Tokyo, Japan, to participate in the 2020 Japan Classic
The band can be seen performing across the country during the holiday season. In addition, the Clear Brook High School Band performs at football games and pep rallies throughout the school year.
In 2010, The Clear Brook High School Wind Symphony was chosen to perform as a representative from Texas in FAME (Future American Music Educators) National Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. They were selected for their excellence in performance, special school activities, and a solid commitment to music education.
Clear Brook’s Showband has placed 1st every year at the TMSB Region 25 UIL Marching Contest since 2008. They are known for their entertaining jazz shows and props in all four of their marching seasons. The band has performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade twice (2009 and 2016) and the Japan Classic in Tokyo, Japan, where they performed on national television.
Clear Brook High School offers many extracurricular activities, including Texas Forensic Association debate, mock trial, robotics club, student council. History club named congress of ambassadors which has won awards for both its debate and service clubs, National Honor Society, a variety of fine arts activities, yearbook club, a speech team which has taken first place at the state finals for two years in a row (2007 and 2008), Academic Decathlon, theatre department with multiple productions every school year, band and choral department.
